This project involves designing an implement to automatically apply rubber sealing strips with self-adhesive backing to metal door frames. The seals come coiled in 50m boxes and need to be fed continuously into the tool. The device must remove the protective liner from the adhesive as the seal is inserted and firmly press it into position on the interior of the frame as the tool is moved by hand along each edge. When the tool reaches a corner, it can be detached to allow manual placement of the seal at the junction before reattachment to continue installation along the next wall. The tool needs to feed the strip as close to inside corners as possible for a seamless seal. Once all three sides are lined with the seal, it can be cut by hand. The proposed solution should smoothly guide the adhesive strip, efficiently peel the liner, and reliably bond the seal while navigating corners with precision. Bidders are encouraged to submit sketches of ergonomic, durable designs that fulfill this demanding yet important framing task.
