“ Hello hunters, this is Terry from Chooly. We are happy to introduce our newly launched app to the product hunt community. Chooly is a modern personal finance app, that allows you to track assets, understand spending, analyze investment performance, and plan for a better future. I used to manage my personal finance through a spreadsheet until I’m tired of the manual effort. Then I found that available personal finance products either focus too much on budgeting or are quite outdated. More importantly, none of them can achieve what I wanted: - Filter and search spending history easily. - Track every cash flow related to a rental property. - Analyze whether the rental property yields a better return than my stocks. - Model the net present value to decide whether to sell or hold the property. Then we realize that these problems are common to the majority of middle classes, and are actually solvable through technology. We believe that if we build better financial tools, we can help people make better data-driven financial decisions. So we started building Chooly. The core idea of Chooly is to help people manage their personal finances like managing a business. When managing business finance, you use Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement. When making business decisions, you use tools like cash flow analysis, net present value analysis, sensitivity test, etc. What we did was to adopt those ideas into personal finance, and present them in an intuitive and user-friendly way. For example: - Your balance sheet can be updated automatically through connection to banks and brokerages. - Your income statement can be a nice chart showing the net worth growth factors in a period of time. - Your planning tool kit comes with tools to model cash flows of different scenarios (e.g. https://chooly.app/tool/npv). Feel free to try out the app yourself. I’m happy to answer any questions. ” – Terry Discussion | Link

“ About 8 years ago I had the opportunity to share what I've learned when I moved from engineering to management career through a mentorship program from Endeavor. That extended to people and companies looking me up directly. It was a free space to talk about mistakes, successes and learnings. I've shared how I learned to hire, grow teams, face challenging technical issues and market changes. We discussed product and engineering culture under different kinds of business in a way that would be hard with a single day job. I took a lot of notes and saw that many situations were common and repeated across different companies. I've started to blog these notes and ended up creating an ebook hosted in my Github account called "The CTO Field Guide" - a pun on my favorite reading when I was a kid, electronic field maintenance books. I wanted to create a handbook for my job. In the pandemic the volume of companies and individuals reaching out grew exponentially and I reached more than 100 sessions. From these, 7 companies started a 2 quarters (6 months) track to support their leadership. The learnings of this period along with the notes I took helped me expand and improve the ebook to the point that I wanted to try self publishing. My objective is that the book helps from the tech lead to the seasoned CTO. It is a work in progress that may finish by June 2022 but I decided to put it on sale now and ship updates as they come because there is a lot of useful content already. If you are curious to see what goes on mentoring sessions, if you are just starting a new job, team or if you got promoted, this is the book for you too. The website to learn more and get the book is https://ctofieldguide.com. You will also find posts about the book and Engineering Management at https://gleicon.substack.com. Hope you enjoy ” – gleicon Discussion | Link

“ Hey everyone! I am one of the developers of Sidekick, a simple desktop interface for tools that enhance Flutter's development experience to make it even more delightful. Today we're excited to announce our first stable release! It brings new features, new looks, and huge optimizations, and I'll tell you all about them, but first, let me explain what Sidekick does: It is a Flutter version manager (thanks to FVM) and project manager. This means that Sidekick functions as your go-to place when managing your flutter apps, it's your development homebase. You can view all your projects, manage their flutter version, launch them in your code editor, or even play around in our project playground. Whatever it is you want to do with your Flutter project, Sidekick is the perfect starting point. Now, with 1.0 and the release of Flutter 3.0 we've worked hard to show how native a Flutter app can truly feel, and, if Flutter just caught your eye today, Sidekick is one of the easiest ways to get started! In macOS we are excited to announce our new icon, which you can see in the header. It has been rebuilt to conform with macOS's other icons, and we guarantee it will feel right at home in your menu, with everything from it's subtle gradients to the shadows. Windows has also received some love from us. In fact, Sidekick will now look somewhat different, with a beautiful Mica effect on Windows 11 and a curved main card which fits Microsoft's Fluent UI guidelines. Let's also not forget about the fact that Sidekick is now available in the Microsoft Store, and has been for a couple of months. This means it is easier than ever to get started and set Sidekick up, simply by heading to the MS Store and clicking install. It has been great to see the reception of Sidekick in the Microsoft Store, with a 5-star rating and with over 200 downloads just in the first month from people all over the world. If you are using the MS Store 1.0.0 will be available shortly, but it may take a couple of days until the update rolls out to all devices. Hang tight! With this Sidekick release we are also releasing two new big features: You can now select a custom application start your projects with! Simply head over to the IDE selection toggle and click on custom. Then, simply select the application you want to open your projects with. Want to change the IDE again? Simply click on the custom button again to change your previous selection We are taking the first step towards improving support for first time users of sidekick. As of 1.0.0 Sidekick will now check that all the required components are installed and correctly configured, as well as showing you the necessary commands to install everything with just one click. Last but not least, this release brings some new translations thanks to all of you. Sidekick is now available in the following languages (in addition to any of the previously bundled ones): Japanese, Polish, Italian, Ukrainian(Слава Україні!), and Bengali. Sidekick is the work of over 15 people, so thank you to every single one of you for helping make Flutter's dev experience even better. ” – Eduardo M Discussion | Link
