Hi
I'm building a new site (petfriendlyholiday.co.uk), and I need some help with API integration to change the way the theme works. I need some custom code from someone who is familiar with travelerWP, and API endpoints programmed in so affiliate API's can be tagged and populate the website correctly. This is a long job explanation - so please understand the requirements before bidding. I'm not sure if this is a quick job or a long one - let me know timescales and actual costs.
There is no need for any styling - it is pure coding. I am proficient in Elementor so there is no need to worry about that side of things. I want to get the ‘chassis’ of the website all working correctly BEFORE I perfect the design / do all of the content.
If you can quote me on the following:
A couple of ‘errors’ or maybe setup:
Email Notifications:
The email notifications in the user dashboard do not seem to be working. I have it setup so the users can email each other, and emails go out and can be replied to just fine…..except no 'conversation notifications' appear in the dashboard itself. I did have to set up WP-Mail SMTP. I followed their guide and the partner emailing works fine. Just no notifications go into the dashboard at all.
Is it possible to send emails out to partners – AND have them go into the user login dashboard notifications area?
Checkout
This seems fine….except when there is a cancelled order, it still goes to the checkout success page. This could be confusing for the user.
Is there a ‘checked failed’ page, or can that be coded in?
If so, quote for this please. You can check it by signing up as a partner, then go to the free upgrade once logged in and abort it. It still says checkout success.
Main Work For The Quote
I have to wait before I can be approved for booking.com and Expedia. However I DO have Viator and travelpayouts setup. The API codes are in the system. And the white label pages have already been setup. You can see this from the search bar at the top.
What I want to do is simplify the way it works, which will give me better options:
Viator:
I bought the plugin from codecanyon, but it does not do what I hoped. Yes it works. I can add it to the search bar and it gives the results (on my viator-search page). But it’s not how I want it.
What I want is one single 'activity' page. This takes my filters that I set in admin and matches them with my own activity filters. My own featured listings will go at the top (I call it PFH Direct). After these, I want the Viator listings. I want them on the same page, so the Activities page will always be populated with activities. However, this is where it gets more complex:
I want the Viator API to be called so it shows relevant activities to the search term. In other words, Viator responds to the filters in admin so for example, if someone looks for historic days out, it will show my direct listings at the top, then Viator ‘historic days out’ afterwards. Everything must look the same as my own listings, whether it is from my site, or Viator. – so it’s one ‘block’ or grid of results.
I think it needs to have the API on the activities page that recognises the endpoints for the filters?
So there will be no viator-search page. Just an activity page with everything on it, all looking like one block of results with my own styling.
Travelpayouts
I would like this to work exactly the same as above, but only be on the hotels page (no flights needed). I have the affiliate ID all setup in there and it is working on its own page. I need it on the hotels page, for hotels only.
If we could filter lodges / caravans / apartments and have it on the rentals page too, then great.
Expedia and Booking.com
I’d like this to work the same on the hotels/rentals page. This will be another job as approvalonly happens after the site is built.
A Quick Checkover
As you should be familiar with the theme, can check my settings to see it’s all setup okay?
One Extra
On my blogs (I have made 3 of them with AI to test it)…….I have the Google Ads on the sidebar. I am using the ad inserter plugin and it works fine. However, it seems to have a different sidebar on the archive page and results pages for hotels/rentals/activities). I'd like the php snippets from ad inserter (numbers 6&7) put into the correct files so the ad code is in all sidebars like it is on the single blog pages (styled the same too, in the same place).
Is the above possible – so the API and affiliate feeds in the end will populate the 3 pages (hotel, rentals and activities) automatically and be searchable as per the categories set in admin. Basically the idea is to have the whole site populated with results, and in my own style like my own listings - in one block per page?
There needs to be a ‘default’ setting for ads to appear. The default terms would be England (Location) and ‘Pet Friendly’ (Category).
I’m just at the start of a journey so there will be more work as we go!
Thanks
